EDUCATION: THE PARENTS’ LEGACY
By Jay Ar O. Esencia
There are many things that can be bequeathed to a child, but education is still the greatest and a lifetime legacy that parents could provide.
Education, what is the intrinsic value of it? My parents always emphasize that education is the only gift they could bestow upon us. It seems that there are no other things greater or more precious than that. We may ask them why not money or any properties that they could give to us directly. What we may not mindful of is that education will lead us to a brighter future.
We frequently observe that a number of parents would send their children to school with various reasons. One of these reasons is that they want their children to be educated. They let their children acquire and impart knowledge and skills in a particular school for lengthy years from elementary, high school, and then college. Another reason is that they want their children to have a better career in life and to establish their future firmly through education.
Education is considered the best reward that every parent could offer to their children. It is better than money which can be spent at a time. It is better than any properties which can be stolen or lost if it is not properly handled. It is better than fame which will fade after a limited instance of experiencing admirations. After the lengthy years in school, the children will be graduating from their respective institution. They will be considered educated person, thus, it is not difficult for them to find a greener pasture to support their needs. They will be capable of being independent from their parents. Moreover, they will be able to establish their future efficiently.
In summary, education is a lifetime gift, which cannot be stolen, spent or lost. We may consume time, money and effort in achieving this prestigious gift, but its effectiveness will last for a lifetime. Being an educated person means that you are competent enough and equipped in the battle of life. Education determines the upcoming of the children, yet it is the greatest and a lifetime legacy of parents.
